TIPS TO SAVE WATER IN BATHROOMS

Bathroom faucets

‘Save water, save Life’ is something that we have been hearing since time immemorial, but have you made any efforts, if not significant, even small ones to make sure that you have contributed to the cause of conserving water?
Another saying we have come across several times is, ‘ Charity begins at home!’ Well in this case, when it comes to saving water by just making the smallest of efforts, charity begins in your Bathroom!

Here are a few tips that would help you save water in your bathroom: –

Ditch the Bathtubs

As much as it sounds relaxing to take a long calming bath soaked in a bathtub, the amount of water that is wasted is too high! You could always switch to quick warm showers instead and save a lot of water in turn. With the fast-paced life of everyone, bathtubs have certainly become the past for many modern homes. So ditch those tubs and save gallons of water.

Install Water Saving Faucets

Today most of the hand faucets in the market come with aerators. These aerators are attached to the outlet of the faucets. The aerators add air to the water flow making it bubbly and giving the flow an illusion of high pressure. So even if your main water supply is reduced to low pressure, you will still have high-pressure water flow in your bathroom faucets due to these aerators. This helps in conserving water every time you wash your hands!

Turn your taps off while Brushing and Shaving

Many of us have the habit of keeping the water running from the faucets or water taps while we brush our shave due to its convenience – you need not turn them on and off multiple times so you let the water run. But did you know that you may save up to four gallons per minute by turning off the water while brushing and shaving? For a household of four, it equates to 200 gallons every week! So, if you are doing it already, then keep it up, but if you’re not, then start practicing now!

Turn off your Showerheads while Shampooing and Applying Soap

While taking a shower most of us keep the water running from the showerhead while applying shampoo or soaping ourselves so that the water is instantly available once we are done with the deed. But shutting off the water while washing your hair might save up to 150 gallons of water every month! Check For Leakages

It often happens that a leaking bathroom tap or a health faucet pipe starts leaking and remains unnoticed for days. This could lead to serious wastage of several liters of water altogether. Even your toilet flushes after a point of time due to excessive use tend to have running water once you have flushed. Make a habit of checking for leakages once a day whenever you use the washroom. In case of a leak, turn off the main water supply and get the fittings repaired immediately.

All these are pretty easy tips that can become habits within no time. Be cautious at first and persistence will follow.
