Pros and Cons of Blue Braces

Are blue braces right for you? Well, that’s something you should think long and hard about before making your decision. Here are the pros and cons of choosing blue as your color scheme to help you make an informed decision.

Do People Notice Blue Braces Immediately?

Blue braces can definitely make a statement, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you want to attract attention to your smile. However, it’s probably not good if you are looking for a low-key orthodontic solution. Blue braces aren’t subtle at all – they get noticed. If you prefer to fly under people’s radar while wearing braces, blue may not be your best bet. Plus, research shows that kids actually do take notice of their peers’ dental issues – so blue might cause some awkwardness around school until everyone else has moved on from their teens. You also might not enjoy being singled out as the kid with blue teeth.

Can You Have Other Colored Brackets with Blue?

Blue brackets are a great color to have if you’re willing to stand out from other patients in your orthodontist’s office. There are no rules saying that you can’t pair blue braces with red or purple ones. If your orthodontist offers different colors, bring some photos along so he or she can help pick out which colors look best together.

While your child might like what they see in their favorite movie star’s mouth, that doesn’t mean they will be suitable for them. Have a professional evaluate how any colored brackets will look on your child’s teeth and lips so you can get a good idea how they’ll look in everyday life. You should make sure blue is suitable for your child before heading down that path!

What’s The Cost Difference Between Blue and Traditional Colors?

Traditional colors are readily available in many brackets, so there isn’t a huge price discrepancy between brands. The biggest difference is that you’ll have to pay a little more if you go with something like blue. That said, it won’t be any more than $20 (if even that).

Most people who wear braces choose one color, but there are some who buy different colors for different brackets just for fun. It’s important to note that patients should always check with their orthodontist before changing anything about their treatment plan or getting new trays. Sometimes fun can be costly when it comes to tooth care!

Will Color Affect Pain From Having Braces?

It’s a common concern among patients: Will braces cause more pain if they’re blue? It depends on your age. For instance, baby teeth are smaller than adult teeth, so older teens may experience increased discomfort with larger-sized braces. So will color affect how much it hurts to get braces? In most cases, no. Because pain varies from patient to patient (and even from tooth to tooth), there’s no way for us to know for sure.

But because getting braces doesn’t typically hurt, we don’t think you need to worry about whether you should go for neon or cherry red. Do remember that after the first couple weeks following installation, you might have sore spots or tender gums. That’s normal! You can ask our dental staff about over-the-counter pain relievers that may help you ease any discomfort while your mouth gets used to having braces in place.

If it is determined that color does play a role in how painful or uncomfortable things are during treatment then changing colors mid treatment could be recommended*

Why Choose Blue Over the Other Colors?

Even as braces technology has gotten better, a lot of people still want to know: do blue braces work better than other colors? While there’s no definitive answer, there are some pros and cons. On one hand, blue braces offer patients a way to express themselves while they get straight teeth. And patients who take time to choose an exciting color or pattern may have an easier time avoiding distractions (after all, nobody’s going to be staring at your mouth). On the other hand, wearing bright colored accessories can distract from what matters most: getting great results from orthodontic treatment.
