The U.S construction industry has the potential to always bloom and create opportunities for every sector related to it. Construction jobs in the U.S have been waning during the pandemic in 2020-2021, due to the low workforce and supply chain issue. However, after the pandemic is over, a good labor force and employment opportunity have been offered and announced by a few states for the construction workers.
Jobs in the construction industry mainly depend on the demand and investment of new infrastructure projects funded by the public or government. Among all the 14 states of the U.S, Arizona and Colorado were at least point instead of having a major part of the water body. After Biden’s infrastructure bill passed for the infrastructure, many big and potential projects have aligned and opened the gateway for the workers as well as heavy equipment dealers to make the most out of it. It doesn’t matter if you are dealing with landscaping equipment for sale or other machinery and tools. Without growth, it won’t have a long-term benefit.
The recent U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data suggests that the employment opportunities in the U.S are highly expected to grow 7% by the end of 2030. As for now, it is good news for all the workers connected to the U.S industry. California and Texas have reportedly more than 600,000 jobs available stated by the BSL. Followed by them, Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida collectively possessed jobs ranging from 200,000 to 400, 000.
Based on the current and available projects, going on or starting soon, the most job bearing states from top to bottom are:
States | Job Openings |
California | 672,280 |
Texas | 608,110 |
Florida | 413,800 |
New York | 311,430 |
Pennsylvania | 213,630 |
Illinois | 181,550 |
Ohio | 178,900 |
North Carolina | 178,710 |
Virginia | 165,410 |
Washington | 161,780 |
It is a fact, that all the states with having most job opportunities, do not pay enough to the workers. In a report, it is revealed that North Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Florida, and Virginia are the states that do not pay the average salary to the construction workers.
Employers should not only look for one thing during a job search in the construction sector. There are some other factors too that must be considered, such as Job opportunities, wages, and growth expectations. Whereas, the workers should also look for the cost of living, quality of life, and competition in the sector before choosing any state to go for, as these factors have a great impact on one’s life that should not be compromised.
The best states paying a good average per hour salaries to the workers are Illinois, Massachusetts, Alaska, California, and New York. Although, the construction industry is always in demand of labor force due to the continuous development in infrastructure of residential or non-residential projects. The increasing demand for development also increases the chances of employment in every sector of construction from heavy equipment dealers to the usual construction labor.
On the other hand, contractors are always behind the skilled and trained workers. It saves their time and energy. Workers should always get training for the necessary and basic construction-related tasks before applying for jobs in the construction industry. It will definitely increase the chances of selection.
