Now that you ’ve decided what to exaggerate on your spread marker, the coming step is deciding what fabric to exaggerate it on! First, choose a stable, woven fabric that does n’t stretch( which makes it easier to exaggerate). Also, make sure that whatever material you use wo n’t affect how the spread hangs and moves once the marker is attached. substantially, I use good quality packing cotton.

Stabilizer for Quilt Markers and Puckering

Unless you use a fountain with a low sew count( suppose running sew, not satin sew) or choose a veritably sturdy fabric, your spread marker will suffer from movement or indecorous stability. That’s why I like to use a fusible no- shoe mesh stabilizer to keep the fabric establishment and give proper sew support. It’s also important that the stabilizer you use is soft and wo n’t affect the fabric parcels of the spread when the marker is darned on.

still, I attach the stabilizer and base fabric together using a temporary glue and add a basting sew before the design aches to help movement, If I do n’t use a fusible stabilizer. I also avoid gash- down stabilizers because tearing the stabilizer off the reverse of the spread can distort the fabric and aches, and it frequently does n’t support my spread marker embroidery design veritably well.

How to exaggerate a Spread Marker Step- By- Step

Spread Marker Edge Options

I also have several ways to fix the edges on my spread marker. The first option, which is my least favorite, is to use pink shears to cut and suture the edge of an interfacing or non-interfacing fabric.( You can also cut with regular scissors to your asked shape.)

Another is to make a simple shape like a cube and also fold the edges of the marker unevenly under. The final system is to suture a piece of fabric over the spread marker( right side down), leaving a small gap. Open, trim, turn the spread marker right side out and close the opening. It’s double- layered and gives a beautiful perfect look.

2. Prep Stabilizer and Hoop Fabric

Now that you ’ve created the design and worked out how it’ll suture, it’s time to start setting up the fabric and machine. For stylish first- time success, I harden my fabric with a bast press before stretching, but you can use your favorite spread stabilizer. Terrell Magic, however, requires washing after embroidery to help abrasion.

also, hoot, hoot, whoop! Use the small size circle that will fit your spread marker embroidery design. This reduces movement and therefore slippage, furnishing better stitching.

still, do n’t pull the fabric, because when the fabric is released it’ll stretch around the stitching on your spread marker and also wrinkle. However, I suggest a glamorous circle rather of floating your spread marker, If you ’re not a good hooper. Floating, in general, doesn’t give the stylish results for me.

4. Clean Up Design

Once the embroidery is finished, remove the circle from your embroidery machine, and release the fabric from the circle. also, trim any jump aches or loose vestments.

5. Press the Marker

Next, press the spread marker right side down with a press cloth and iron. Pressing can remove small puckers and aches. Be careful with brume, however, in case of loss.

6. Trim the exaggerated Marker to Size

Now, choose the confluence allowance you plan to use for your spread marker( I like a large1/2 ″), and trim the exaggerated marker to size using a rotary knife or scissors.( This is if you plan to join the edges before sewing. However, do n’t worry then, If not.) Ta- da, each done! I used the edge fold system for this spread, so I ironed the nethermost edges before eventually adding the marker to my spread.
